Emmylou (Tom De Poorter – Music and Words)

Two little mice with eyes of cobalt blue

Were singing loud about a babygirl like you

On the front lawn, under a willow tree

A sparrow too was listening to their do-re-mi

The youngest was shy, the oldest was loud

They did not have much but their looked very proud

Without a tail, the cat jumped up and hissed

Into the woods they rang and sang a song like this

From mill to mill we wandered until

Along came you, sweet Emmylou

They travelled far and asked the deep blue sea

If they could make it’s golden shore a bed for three

Blossoms for pillows and playing bamboo spoons

On sultry sands they wasted plenty afternoon

Soon the sea came to be a fickle friend

Throwing fits of roaring thunder without end

Winds cried goodbye, they shone like fireflies

Danced and glittered and lit up the gloomy sky

From mill to mill we wandered until

Along came you, sweet Emmylou

Two little mice with eyes of cobalt blue

Were singing loud about a babygirl like you
